Mini Review

The Damned (also known as These Are The Damned) is based on a novel by H.L. Lawrence. It's a cold war paranoia movie in an almost literal sense. It starts with a man being set on by a gang of motorcycle thugs but then goes in a completely different direction with the discovery of a secret underground research facility. Here the government have had children kept since birth and experimented on to allow them to survive the forthcoming nuclear apocalypse.

This is horror without monsters or slashers or the supernatural. This is horror about what people do to other people in the name of the greater good. It's a dark, depressing story that stay with you long after the end credits.
